If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God. Have you been guilty of throwing out that one-liner like a piece of dried up toast? “Ho-hum…Lord give me wisdom…yawn.” If I were a betting man I would wager that after that stale salute to the Lord you walked away dumber than if you had never asked for wisdom in the first place. Am I correct? Don’t raise your hand; you’ve embarrassed yourself enough already.
It’s interesting to note that the word, ‘ask,’ in this case, means more than a wimpy, wimpy half-hearted request for something… The Greek word for ask is ‘aiteo’ which means to be adamant about; to crave. We are to have an unfailing, unflinching craving for this wisdom from our Heavenly Father who gives to all liberally and without reproach. Furthermore, it is not a suggestion. It is a command.
