The restrainer and the apostasy in the “days of Noah”

Keep your eyes on Israel, for she is a major key in the end of times; the peace treaty is coming.

2 Thessalonians 2:2-8 is the discourse on the “falling away” and the revealing of the antichrist as the restrainer is removed. This “falling away” is also referred to as the “great apostasy.”

The term “falling away” is not a reference to the apostasy of the church, although a certain section of the church is falling rapidly into apostasy. It would be better translated “the departure” and is a powerful reference to a pre-tribulation rapture!

Logic says that this restrainer is in fact the true church indwelt by the Holy Spirit and the “apostasy” or “falling away” is her great departure or rapture.

“The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength, they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and then we fly away. Who knows the power of Your anger? For as is the fear of You, so is your wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we gain a heart of wisdom.”

“Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. If only we knew the power of your anger! Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭90:10-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

2555 Chamac Hamas, from 2554; to be violent; by implication, to maltreat:–make bare, shake off, violate, do violence, take away violently, wrong, imagine wrongfully.

The KJV translates Strongs H2555 in the following manner: violence (39x), violent (7x), cruelty (4x), wrong (3x), false (2x), cruel (1x), damage (1x), injustice (1x), oppressor (with H376) (1x), unrighteous (1x).

7451   רַע  ( ra ) – evil

The KJV translates Strongs H7451 in the following manner: evil (442x), wickedness (59x), wicked (25x), mischief (21x), hurt (20x), bad (13x), trouble (10x), sore (9x), affliction (6x), ill (5x), adversity (4x), favoured (3x), harm (3x), naught (3x), noisome (2x), grievous (2x), sad (2x), misc (34x).

And GOD saw that the wickedness (H7451) of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil (H7451) continually…

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The earth was corrupt before God and the earth was filled with violence…and God said to Noah, ‘The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence…I will destroy them with the earth.”

Genesis 6:5-13

This amazing verse was prophetic then. We know the story, it came to pass exactly. But, we are now in the “days of Noah,” version two! Do those verses above in Genesis describe our world today? They do exactly.

Today the word of God has been so universally rejected and cast down by governments, society, educational institutions, entertainment, religious institutions, even commerce and industry. The effects of casting down God’s word on a national or even an international scale are dramatic to say the least. The single big effect is the casting off of restraint.

Rather than give you my explanations, I’m presenting you now with a whole bunch of Bible verses on this exact subject. Don’t gloss over them, read them, study them and let them speak to you.

Hosea 4:1-3 “There is no truth, or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed after bloodshed. Therefore the land will mourn and everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea.”

Psalm11:5 “The Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence, his soul He hates.”

Psalm 73:6 “Pride serves as their necklace; violence covers them like a garment.”

Obadiah 1:10 “For your violence against your brother Jacob (Israel), shame shall cover you and you shall be cut off forever.”

Proverbs 6:17 (Seven things that are an abomination to God.) “A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood.”

Proverbs 28:28 “When the wicked arise, men hide themselves; but when they perish the righteous increase.”

Psalm 9:17 “The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget (forsake) God.”

Psalm 68:30 “…Scatter the people who delight in war.”

Psalm 140:1-2 “Deliver me O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, who plan evil things in their hearts; they continually gather together for war.”

Psalm 55:21 “The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, but they were drawn swords.”

Isaiah 60:12 “For the nation and kingdom that will not serve You shall perish, and those nations shall be utterly ruined.”

Now have a look at the verses below; they are comforting and true. These verses must become more than words on a page – they must become ingrained. Again don’t gloss over them, read and study them.

Isaiah 48:18 “Oh that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace (obedience, in a way) would be like a river and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”

Psalm 147:11-14 “The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy…He makes peace in your borders.”

John16:33 “These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Philippians 4:7-9 “The peace of God which surpasses understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Yeshua Messiah….the things which you leaned and received and heard and saw, these things do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Romans 8:6 “To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

1 Corinthians 14:33 “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

Isaiah 66:12 “Behold I will extend peace to her (Israel) like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream.”

Psalm 4:8 “I will sleep and lie down in peace, for You alone O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Job 5:23 “You shall have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.”

Job 22:21 “Acquaint yourself with Him and be at peace. Thereby good (prosperity) will come to you.”

Proverbs 16:7 “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

There is no limit to the experience of God. There are no limits to the depths of joy, peace and stability in Him. A little-mentioned fruit of knowing Him is restraint, or ease of obedience if you will, in your life. Restraint then produces peace. This is the opposite of the fruit of the world. Knowing God produces restraint and restraint produces peace – full circle.
