Repentance With Faith Leads To Salvation

GOD’S HOLY STANDARDS as revealed in holy scriptures are eternal, they are fixed and will not be altered to suit a person’s sinful lifestyle.

God’s Word will not change so a person can live in sin. God is holy and when a person is convicted of his sins by the Holy Spirit, and when he repents and turns from his sins and places his faith in Jesus to save him, a radical change will take place in his life. That person becomes a brand new person, and is born of God and indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God. He will hate the sins he use to love, and now love righteousness. 2 Tim.2:19 says he will ‘depart from iniquity’ when he confesses Christ. Acts 3:26 says to us,’Unto us first God, having sent him to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from his iniquities.’

Salvation is not mere ‘mental assent’ to the historical facts of who Jesus was, and did — rather [it] is faith that includes repentance of one’s sinful way of life. We believe in the risen Son of God who as the spotless Lamb of God died for us, bearing our iniquities on the Cross, and who rose from the dead on the 3rd day. 1st John (read all 5 chapters that show the real evidences of the new birth) tells us those who are born of God do not live a sinful worldly lifestyle, but instead show the evidence of eternal life by living holy, and loving the brethren and obeying the commandments of the Lord Jesus. They have the life in God in them (1st John 2:2-6, 1st John 2:29, 1st John 3:5-10, 1st John 3;14-17, 1st John 5:11-12).

Ephesians 5:5-7  ‘For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be ye not partakers therefore with them.’  Many are deceived thinking it is okay to live in sin and go to heaven but this is not what the bible says, does it?

The bible makes it clear that if a person is sexually immoral and impure and full of greed that they have no excuse before a holy God. The terrible holy anger of God will fall on them unless they repent and get right with God. The wrath of God is not a popular message these days and is ignored by those who would rather please people instead of pleasing God. When we witness these are scriptures we need to share with the lost.

Gal.5:19-22  ‘Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying’s, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.’

We are told to tolerate these sins and that is it unloving to speak the Truth in love. But God will not tolerate them.

The bible here is telling us that you cannot live in these sins as a way of life and go to heaven. I encourage you to take the time to study these words which is God’s list of sin in Eph. 5 and Gal.5. This is what God says. This is a serious warning for it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God – Hebrews 10:31.

1st Cor.6:9-11 tells us that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God. Then the bible makes another serious list that includes fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, drunkards, greedy people, extortioners etc. But there is hope for radical change and being set free from sin because it says in verse 11, ‘And such were some of you, but ye were washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.’ Amen.

Some had been born again and were no longer living in these sins. It says,’such were some of you’ which is past tense. The old life had passed away and they were new creations in Christ. That is real change!! (2nd Cor.5:17).

Romans 6:22-23 says to us, ‘But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.’  Notice it speaks of the fruit of holiness and fruit is what you see. It is evidence of a changed life.

Lastly, there are many Christians in name only, who live sinful lifestyles, and are self deceived, and of course those in the “world” who are slaves of sin. The answer for both is the Gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation, for all who believe (Romans 1:16). Today is the day of salvation, believe the Gospel and repent, and be changed by the Holy Spirit of God.

Who does God have mercy on? Isaiah 55:6-7 ‘Seek the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and the Lord will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.’
